Words Have Been Flowing Out For 1 Year!!

The following post was reblogged from acrosstheuniversepodcast.wordpress.com - thank you for 12 great months, Nik and Sofia.  It's been a great adventure so far and I will never get tired of explaining people what a podcast is or that you are not people I met through online dating (who ever thinks of this stuff?). I hope we will have the possibility to meet some time although it probably won't be in the next year. Here's to another 12 months of discussing Mads Mikkelsen (how to pronounce his name, I mean)!

Spread the Word | Watching Chris Evans on The Tonight Show Is a Legit Hobby But I Still Don't Have a Life

NEAT BLOG POSTS
Mettel explains her reasons for loving film and defends movie-watching as a hobby.
Sofia - dashingly - lists 30 of the many movies to look out for this year.
It's an older post, but I finally read Stevee's wonderful post on feminism and film.
Nick impressed me by not only watching, but also reading Divergent.
Katy reviews Jobs and not surprisingly dislikes it a lot. My tiny hope for it was finally crushed.

SUPERB VIDEOS
Sherlock Season 3: The Musical is so perfect even now. I can't wait to re-watch this season.
Nik shared this awesome video of The Evolution of Bollywood Music.
Jensen Ackles sing 'Carry On My Wayward Son' - does it need more saying?
Chris Evans and his brother Scott were hilarious on the Tonight Show.

GROOVY PODCASTS
As You Watch is becoming a favorite - they recently talked about Woody Harrelson, Anton Yelchin and Daniel Brühl.
FTS is still my #1 podcast and in their latest episode theyd list their favorite Fake Movies/ Shows in Real Movies/ Shows.
If podcasting was a religion, my God would be Ryan McNeil who had Stevee Taylor join him to voice-review Noah along with Vigil and Ben Hur.

WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING ELSEWHERE
Since last time, my guest spots on The Film Pasture (Episode 13: Get a Life!) and the LAMBCast (Episod 212: Muppet Mania) came out. I had a great time discussing my lack of life and what watching the entire Muppet franchise has to do with that on both of these shows.

Spread the word!

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 23: Belle de Jour

It's the first time we're talking about a movie chosen by our listeners - you had the choice between 6 movies and in the end, you chose the 60s Bunuel movie, Belle de Jour. First of all, thanks to everyone who voted, you were a lot more than we initially expected! Also, you seem to know us well as the film fits right into our favorite niche of foreign cinema with a female angle. The missing male eye candy was all made up for by the mesmerizing, Goddess-like beauty of Catherine Deneuve!

03:09- Trailer
03:50- Interesting Movie of the Fortnight
16:53- The chicks discuss the Listeners' Choice, Belle de Jour (1967)

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 22: Teenage Dream

Sofia and I turned 22 and 19, respectively, and all three chicks including Nik celebrate this with some fun, over-the-top, rebellious teenage movies; I forced some High School Musical on the two, Nik went with the classier choice of Rebel Without a Cause and Sofia took us back to the crazy 80s with Girls Just Want to Have Fun (which, by the way, is available to watch legally and free on youtube).

Let us be your teenage dream tonight!

PS: Please vote for the movie you'd like us to watch for the first time and discuss in the next episode! You can find the poll by clicking on this link or on the sidebar.

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 20: Let's Fall in Love

Put your ear phones on, press the play button and let Nik, Sofia and me be your Valentine's this year. Instead of heart-shaped toffees and red roses, we will bring you something even better - a shorter-than -usual version of our usual, accent-filled discussion. If you're tired of the usual Valentine's Day traditions, you'll probably enjoy this episode, as we talk about rather unknown or unusual films about love. Another present for you on this holiday: we created an account on Stitcher Radio, so you can finally listen to our show there too.

Happy Valentine's Day!

TALKING (and singing) ELSEWHERE #1

Have you been craving more of my weird, funny, nasal voice ever since you listened to an episode of the Across the Universe: The Chicks With Accents podcast? Then despair no more, for here comes an extra batch of audio material for you to devour.

Most recently, I have been a guest on what has been one of my favorite podcasts right from the start, and the only one of which I have listened to each episode (well... there are only 5, including mine, but whatever). So if you want to hear me sing (if that's what you can call it), listen to We Sing Poorly #5: Beauty and the Beast.

I've also been on a few episode of the LAMBcast:

And if you need even more, there's something to look forward to with future appearances on the Matineecast on The Film Pasture.

Only four days - or five, depending on your location - until you can finally unwrap your presents and see the (hopepfully) happy looks on your family's and friends' faces. For the impatient among you, here's a snowflake-fresh episode brought to you by Nik, Sofia and my own humble self.

There will be no further episodes (or blog posts for that matter) until New Year, since I'm on vacation in Michigan and everyone including my fellow two chicks with accents will be busy with the holiday preparations and exams. Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 14: Noirvember

Find out about the stuff that dreams are made of, our new favorite perfume and the diminishment of cinema in this latest episode of the Across the Universe Podcast. Instead of growing mustaches, we decided to take part in the celebration of Noirvember, a tradition that was started by Marya Gates. Please note that there was no lack of enthusiasm or traces of sleepiness from any of the parties involved - we were just trying to imitate Humphrey Bogarts cool way of speaking.

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 13: Give Life Back to Music

In our latest episode, we welcome our first guest on the show, the awesome Ryan McNeil from thematinee.ca and the Matineecast. We'd like to establish a few traditions linked to the guest episodes, such as the guest choosing the opening song and us selecting a general discussion suited to the guest. Ryan was a true patriot and showed support for his home country Canada at various times in the show, as we made him list his three favorite music-related non-musicals. You also have the possibility to get to know Ryan a bit more in our questionnaire.

Please excuse all technical mishappenings.

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 12: Awkward Movie Viewing Moments

It's getting darker outside, but before you fall in to an early winter depression (which - admittedly - is an easy thing to do, especially now that news about Sherlock releasing in January is out), you might want to listen to this latest episode of the Across the Universe Podcast. I'm sure our embarrassing and/or funny stories of movie viewings will put a smile on your face, and who knows - perhaps they'll even make you laugh and forget about the dropping temperatures and the fact that supermarkets are stuffed with chocolate Santas already.

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 11: Ground Control to Major Tom

Better late than never - here's the latest episode of the Across the Universe Podcast that released more than a week ago. Since then, you've probably already 2001 positive reviews of Gravity but I hope you'll still have fun listening to the three of us discussing three of our favorite Sci-Fi classics - if you haven't already.

Furthermore, we have detected two small errors: Of course, Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon - not Louis. And the book that served as inspiration for Blade Runner was called Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 10: I Want Candy (A Sofia Coppola Retrospective)

It's our 10th episode already - can you believe it? This little project has grown very dear to me though, so perhaps it isn't so weird that we're celebrating our first jubilee this week. Another thanks to my podcasting companions Nik and Sofia - we did it!

We tried something slightly new for this episode and talked about one of our favorite directors of all time, Sofia Coppola. From Lick the Star to The Bling Ring to her Miss Dior ad, we've tried to cover as much as possible and hope you'll have as much fun listening as we had recording.

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 9: Crushcrushcrush

The chicks are trying to hold on to the last straws of summer by honoring some of the biggest heartthrobs film history ever saw, as we list our top 5 greatest crushes on movie characters. Giggles were frequent this time and we tried to keep this an easy-listening episode. As always, we talked about the "Movies" of the Fortnight, which were a surprise tv show for Sofia, Shaun of the Dead for Nik (which I have finally seen by now) and This is the End for me.

For those tuning in for the first time, please notice that we have run out of storage on our host Podomatic and have had to delete the first episodes from the site, so they also won't show up on iTunes. We've decided to do this since it seems common practice with many movie podcasters, and we're working on realizing a way for you to download archived episodes. For news, check our facebook page frequently.

Across the Universe Podcast, Eps 8: Nik's Birthday Episode

This episode is sort of a digital time capsule birthday wish to the chick that started it all, Nik[hat].
We stole borrowed the idea from our great inspiration, Ryan McNeil from the Matineecast, and listed our top 3 movies from the last 21 years that have had some kind of big influence on us or have been a great inspiration to us.

As always, we share some of our latest viewings, which are Only God Forgives (Nik), Rock of Ages, This Means War (Sofia) and Martha Marcy May Marlene. We recorded the episode a while ago due to logistical problems, but hopefully it's still fresh to you!
So again, Happy Birthday to Nik, and enjoy listening...
