[3] The Upcoming Adult Presents: 18 Favourite Villains

Although this blogathon is already killing me - literally - I continue it with a celebration of the coolest bad guys in film history. Or at least the part of film history I'm acquainted with.
Once you've seen enough movies, you'll know that villains or at least grey-ish characters can easily steal the scene from an all-through good guy. While the anti-hero might be my all time favourite kind of character, the villain is just one step behind.
Some of the characters I chose here are not actual villains in the truest sense of the word, but they are all close enough to be mentioned here - so enjoy their cruelty and arrogance in the following list!

(In no particular order, and no descriptions this time as I think the images suffice).

[1] Black Swan: The Black Swan played by Mila Kunis/ Natalie Portman

[2] The Lord of the Rings trilogy + The Hobbit trilogy: Gollum played by Andy Serkis

[3] Kill Bill Vol. 1 + Vol. 2: Elle Driver played by Daryl Hannah

[4] Mean Girls: Regina George played by Rachel McAdams

[5] The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: The White Witch played by Tilda Swinton

[6] The Silence of the Lambs: Hannibal Lecter played by Anthony Hopkins

[7] 2001: A Space Odyssey: HAL 9000 voiced by Douglas Rain

[8] Snow White and the Huntsman: The Queen played by Charlize Theron

[9] Skyfall: Silva played by Javier Bardem

[10] Casino Royale: Le Chiffre played by Mads Mikkelsen

[11] The Shining: Jack Torrance played by Jack Nicolson

[12] The Dark Knight: The Joker played by Heath Ledger

[13] Darr: Sunil Malhotra played by Shahrukh Khan

[14] The Devil Wears Prada: Miranda Priestly played by Meryl Streep

[15] Dhoom 2: Mr. A played by Hrithik Roshan

[16] All About Eve: Eve Harrington played by Anne Baxter

[17] Harry Potter series: Bellatrix Lestrange played by Helena Bonham Carter

  2. No, Mrs. Robinson is awesome! Same goes for Gollum.
Love Regina George and Miranda Priestley as villains. Hannibal Lecter of course is one of my two most favourite villain of all time.

  3. An interesting list - as brilliant as Serkis was as Gollum, my perception of Gollum is still weighted toward the books, wherein there is too much Smeagol for me to think of him as pure villain. The candidate I would offer is Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber - his brilliant embodiment of a comic villain was critical to establishing the whole Die Hard franchise for me.

    1. Sadly, I don't remember the Die Hard franchise at all, especially not Alan Rickman. But having heard about his performance recently, I guess I should revisit it.
Gollum is one of the coolest villains of all time I think, but yes, there's definitely a very sweet and good side to him.

  4. Two villains here dressed as evil nurses. Have you seen 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' yet? If not, I'm sure you won't regret it.

And no, I haven't seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - do you mean I should watch it or not?
