[11] The Upcoming Adult: 18 Movies That Make You Wanna Start...

I think that all movies leave something good with you. Something helpful, something that can guide you or inspire you in one way or another. Sometimes it's just "I really don't think splatter movies are my piece of cake" or "The Academy f*cked up this year", while other times movies can truly inspire you to make a change in your life.
Today I want to share some movies that offer various ideas - defined ones - for things to do with your life. Some of these ideas remain dreams to me (New York City is the best example) others I chose because they did have an influence on my own life.

Here are 18 Movies That Make You Wanna Start...

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Did I? YesWhy? Some people dance“.

3 Idiots
Did I? Yes. Why? It re-afflamed my love of Hindi cinema.

The Bucket List
Did I? Not really. Why? My brain is still good enough to remember what I want to do before I die.

Kabhi Khushie Kabhie Gham
Did I? Sure. Why? I was 9 and it was all I had never even dreamed of.

Fried Green Tomatoes
Did I? Kind of. Why? I was worried about my future far away from home without my mum cooking.

Dirty Dancing
Did I? Yes, until I had no dance partner anymore. But you never forget the basics. Why? Rhythm is in our nature.

Cheaper by the Dozen
Did I? Off course not. Why? I'm underage!

Fight Club
Did I? Naaah... just kicking the air. Why? I'm a chicken when it comes to real life violence. Can't stand it.

Kill Bill
Did I? No. Why? Seriously, I have no time for another sport besides ballet three times a week, school and my job.

About Schmidt
Did I? Nope. Why? Too lazy.

The Social Network
Did I? A little. Why? Because I like information.

Yes Man
Did I? Started on Japanese but I'm moving slowly - no time! Why? Guess I've always been fascinated with languages and I do speak many... but it's hard to improve.

Annie Hall
Did I? In my dreams. Why? It's so big and so... tempting.

Casablanca
Did I? Yes. Why? Why not?

Harry Potter
Did I? A little. Why? I don't need to study much and yes, you can hate me for that. But sometimes I need to be reminded that arrogance is not the right attitude and that even Hermione studies.

Coco Avant Chanel
Did I? For a while until my future plans changed. Why? An internship at a milliner showed me that even though I'm not bad at it, fashion's not a field I want to work with.

Rocket Singh
Did I? Yeah, for pocket money. Why? Money, honey.

Into the Wild
Did I? Not really but I did go on a road trip with my best friend and no real plan. - It was awesome. Why? Because I'm still too materialistic to leave materialism behind.

What movies were you inspired by in your life?

  1. Wow, I love this one!!!
Hmm...The Lord of the Rings is what made me want to read more fantasy books, and books about filmmaking. The Silence of the Lambs in high school made me want to study cinema at uni, which I did! Now I'm an 'aspiring filmmaker' lol
The Dish made me want to become an astronomer! I even got a telescope for my birthday one year and started looking through it on clear nights and stuff, but that kinda drifted off.

    1. Thanks! I read the Lord of the Rings when I was already in my fantasy phase - which was started by Harry Potter (the books). I can't wait to read your name on screen :).

  2. This is a nice one. I remember trying to start a poetry club in my school after watching Dead Poets Society. I usually start saying quotes after a film has affected me- "Yeah" from Fargo and "My name is Inigo Montaya. You kill my father. Prepare to die."

If anything, Cheaper by the Dozen reaffirmed my faith in never having my own kids.

I should really start learning dancing already.

    1. Thanks you, Nikhat. I'm not a big quoter, mainly because nobody knows the movies I quote - and if they have seen them, then they've seen the German dubbed version. I do quote in my head though, haha.

Well, I think I'd like a big pile of children - although I'm scared by the thought of giving birth to even one. (The process itself I mean).
Dancing is so much fun - if you have a decent dance partner.

  3. Great list Mette. Some of those have inspired me too, and so many others did as well. I think that's one of cinema's most precious gifts, it has the power to set an example and inspire us to change like no other art medium.

By the way, watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower and you were right, it's brilliant! I loved it. I was going to say that if I were 16 I'd be all over Logan Lerman but I just found out he's my age... eerie.

    1. Thanks, Sofia! You're so right... I just hope I won't be lingering over my DVDs whispering "My precioouuuus" some day.

Ooooh, so glad you liked The Perks!!! I was a little more into Ezra Miller - but Logan is cute too :)

  4. This is honestly one of the most original blogging ideas I've seen. I died at "Money, honey" and the Cheaper By The Dozen one. One of mine would be Marty because it showed that even ugly people could love. Jk...or am...yeah, I was. Last Year At Marienbad because I want to go to a luxury hotel where mystery reigns.

    1. Thank you so much for that comment, Teddy! Really appreciate it :).
I haven't seen either Marty nor Last Year At Marienbad, but they sound interesting - I love luxury hotels and the mystery that surrounds them. You should check out Alphaville!

    2. I've seen Alphaville. It's one of my favorites depsite my general dislike of Godard's films.

    3. Cool - I don't especially like Godard either apart from this one (until now). Truffaut is more my piece of cake.
